NEW YORK -- A day after taking a "double whacking" on his left hand
and wrist, Yankees first baseman Jason Giambi was out of the starting
lineup that faced the A's at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

While X-rays of Giambi's fingers and wrist were negative after the
first baseman got hit on the wrist by a hard hopper and then hit hard

Giambi was one of the few Yankees hitting well in the Oakland series.

player isn't quite comfortable at the plate. A Tuesday return to
active duty remains a possibility.
