美國歐陽梅芬╱綜閤外電報導】美國1隻邊境牧羊犬經過3年訓練後，可以理解1022個字匯，並正確辨識字匯代錶的物品。這隻牧羊犬還會根據功能和形狀將物品分類，能力相當於3歲小孩。
能力相當於3歲童
2004年在德國萊比錫，曾齣現1隻能辨識200個字匯的牧羊犬瑞可。為瞭解邊境牧羊犬學習字匯的能力是否有極限，美國南卡羅萊納州斯巴達堡沃幅德學院兩位心理學傢瑞德和皮列對這隻名叫「獵人」的牧羊犬，展開密集訓練。
3年訓練過程中，他們嚮「獵人」逐一介紹物品名稱，讓牠找齣該物品後，再重復名稱加強聯想，結果發現「獵人」可以理解1022種物品的名稱。研究小組定期進行字匯測驗，每次任選20種物品，研究人員隔著布幕念齣物品名稱，讓「獵人」把它找齣來。3年來838次測驗中，「獵人」答對的比率都高於8成。此外，當研究人員在熟悉的物品中加入1樣新品，「獵人」也能順利對應齣新品的名稱，顯示牠的理解能力相當不錯，相當於人類3歲小孩。

（法新社巴黎4日電） 醫師4日警告，「肥胖海嘯」（tsunami of obesity）正席捲全世界，體重過重達危險程度的成人總數，自1980年以來已增加將近1倍。
