Xiamen International Health Station to open this month

Project representatives announced last week that the first phase of the Xiamen International Health Station will open by the end of the month. The Huli facility is 20 minutes from the Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. Project representatives said that the complex will serve as a facility to process and house incoming overseas passengers for the prevention and control of pandemics.
When the second phase of the complex is complete, the 136,000-square-meter facility will include nine quarantine buildings with more than 6,000 rooms as well as four dormitories with over 1,600 rooms. Additional support facilities will provide one-stop healthcare for incoming overseas passengers.
To minimize in-person contact with quarantined guests, the facility will include automated services for items such as reception, meal delivery and body temperature measurements.
XICEC project to wrap up in February

Construction on the fifth phase of the Xiamen International Exhibition Center (XICEC) is scheduled to conclude in February, according to XICEC officials. The project will expand the exhibition area from the current 160,000 square meters to more than 200,000 square meters.
XM to host China International Logistics Week

Both the China International Logistics Week and the China International Transportation and Logistics Expo kick off on March 30 at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. The three-day event includes 20 exhibit areas showcasing fields such as logistics, express transportation and multimodal transport.
Xiamen Tianwei Tech One satellite sends back images

The Xiamen Tianwei Tech One satellite last week transmitted its first images of the city of Xiamen. With a resolution of less than one meter, the initial images include photographs of the Haicang sports center, the Haicang bridge and fishing boats along the coast.
The satellite is billed as the first Fujian-dedicated satellite to focus on urban photography. Project sponsors include the city of Xiamen and Xiamen Tianwei Technology. Representatives from the Tianwei Technology hailed the launch as important for the commercialization and industrialization of space remote sensing applications.
Conducting two flyovers of Xiamen every three days, the resulting database of images is expected to play an important role in fields such as marine monitoring and inspection, natural resource investigation and environmental monitoring.
3 XM residents serve as Winter Paralympics torchbearers

The torch relay for the Beijing Winter Paralympics, which commenced last week, included three local residents. The torchbearers include Hou Bin, three-time Paralympic high jump gold medalist; Yang Xiaoping, one of the senior coaches of Xiamen's sports bureau and Fujian's Paralympic track and tield team; and Xie Qiming, a leg amputee and volunteer traffic police officer.
XM to end gov't run shared bike program on June 1

The Xiamen Public Bicycle Management Company last week announced the end of its shared bike program on June 1. Debuted in 2014, the public bike program included financial subsidies and governmental leadership for the public welfare service. Key features of the program included dedicated bike lanes, exclusive parking sites and free one-hour rentals.
The company attributed the end of the program to the rise of the private bike-sharing industry as a solution for the short travel needs of local residents. Major private firms such as DiDi, Hellobike and Meituan operate a combined 150,000 shared bikes in Xiamen.
Gross output of XM construction industry tops 300B yuan

Local construction officials announced recently that the gross output value of Xiamen's construction industry broke the 300-billion-yuan benchmark for the first time ever. The sector notched 318.9 billion yuan in output in 2021, up year-on-year by 12.8 percent. Xiamen ranked third in Fujian, with construction accounting for 10.6 percent of the city's GDP.
Xiamen now home to 66 domestically-listed firms

City officials recently noted that Xiamen is currently home to 66 domestically-listed companies in Xiamen, accounting for 39 percent of Fujian's total. Xiamen is also home to 93 NEEQ-listed companies, 40 percent of Fujian's total. Authorities attributed a portion of that growth to a number of local measures designed to boost corporate IPOs and to promote the quality of listed companies. More than 250 local firms are in various stages of IPO preparation, according to local representatives.

Xiamen Railway Station representatives said last week that the station handled 1.6 million departures during the Spring Festival travel season, up year-on-year by more than 27.8 percent. The peak of the travel season came on January 29 when the station saw 89,700 departures.
XM new materials industry topped 100B yuan in 2021

City officials last week announced that the output value of Xiamen's new materials industry last year exceeded 107.4 billion yuan, up year-on-year by 17.8 percent. Xiamen is home to 189 government-recognized new material enterprises. The sector includes fields such as special metals and alloy materials, advanced polymer materials, advanced inorganic non-metallic materials, high-performance fiber products and composite materials.
Enterprises officially listed as providers of key strategic materials, which include the Xiamen Tungsten Company and XTC New Energy Materials (Xiamen), notched increased output exceeding 60 percent year-on-year.
XM releases five-year plan for software and IT services sectors

City officials last week announced the official release of the city's five-year plan through 2025 for the development of the software and IT services industries in Xiamen. The plan calls for the sectors to account for annual revenue of 220 billion yuan by 2025.
Policy benchmarks include the existence of more than 120 companies each earning 100 million yuan annually in the fields of digital creativity, industry application software and information technology services. The plan also foresees more than 15 listed software companies based in Xiamen.
